Internship Program

Capitol Airspace + You

  • Should be enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a bachelor’s or master’s degree program
  • Should be available to work full-time for a minimum of 12 weeks in Alexandria, Virginia
  • Have demonstrated excellent communication skills, analytical skills, teaming abilities, and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional characteristics we look for: Leadership skills (you like a challenge), Professional (we won’t be afraid to have you speak to multi-million dollar clients), Motivated (you’re interested in learning more, taking responsibility for tough tasks, and expanding your knowledge in other areas of the company)
  • You don’t mind spending a Friday afternoon flying a quadcopter

Interns are trained in Terminal Instrument Procedures (TERPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Don’t have experience in these areas? Don’t worry – we’ll teach you.

The internship program is designed to give interns an understanding of the company culture while learning a unique niche of the aviation industry. Interns that complete the program will have an understanding of how to protect for instrument flight procedures, including instrument departure and approach procedures, low-altitude enroute airways, and minimum vectoring altitudes.

Upon successful completion of the internship program, you may be offered an opportunity to join Capitol Airspace as a full-time Airspace/GIS Specialist.

Day-to-day responsibilities for Airspace/GIS specialists include: reviewing and assessing obstacle evaluation studies, developing instrument departure and approach procedures, and briefing clients on obstacle evaluation studies and procedure standards.
